While I was working on this painting, I was thinking a lot about language and mark-making, not at all about water or gardens, but sometimes the result is a surprise to me. Maybe I was subconsciously channeling my France trip from several years ago, and the incredible experience of painting in Monet’s garden with some fellow students. In any case, here it is, done!
Mirage is included in the Experimental Surroundings exhibition on view through November 4 at Walker Fine Art, 300 W. 11th Avenue, Denver, Colorado.
