Survival Instinct is another new painting of mine in the Experimental Surroundings exhibition on view through November 4 at Walker Fine Art, 300 W. 11th Avenue, Denver, Colorado.
While I was working on this painting, I was thinking a lot about language and mark-making, not at all about water or gardens, but sometimes the result is a surprise to me. Maybe I was subconsciously channeling my France trip from several years ago, and the incredible experience of painting in Monet’s garden with some fellow students. In any case, here it is, done!
